Numbers 26:2-4

² “Add the numbers of all the people of Israel who are twenty years old and older, by their fathers’ houses. Number whoever in Israel is able to go to war.” ³ So Moses and Eleazar the religious leader said to the people in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, ⁴ “Number the people who are twenty years old and older, as the Lord has told Moses.”

Now these were the sons of Israel who came out of the land of Egypt.
